Catholicism in CC, TX

When looking for a subject to write and research about, this wasn't my first choice. I couldn't imagine who in our class would be interested in what I would find. But after thinking about it long and hard...I thought how fun this would be for myself. I've been a catholic, born and raised to believe in one religion. As I've grown, I have come to find that, there are more out there.
Growing up, you could ask my five year old self, why do we celebrate Easter? In fact there is an article floating around with some familiar five year old faces saying what and who the Easter "bunny" is. My comment was a bit different. I spoke about Jesus, his sacrifice, and him returning to us in three days. Of course keep in mine that this is in five year old terms. But looking at this article, and at the other people I've meet throughout my short life, I could not help see this as an opportunity to spread some knowledge around. So the question is, What is Catholicism, its significance in our town, and how did it start here?
I can tell you a few things, some that you may or may not already know.Catholicism, means Universal. he Catholic church is a universal church, or at least it tries to be.  That means that every mass celebrated around the world is hearing the same message from God that week. Now did some of y'all know that Corpus Christi is Latin for the Body of Christ? You probably did, but I bet you don't know some things about Catholics in Corpus Christi. I know I don't and now I'm going to find out.
I've been speaking to my priest Father Don and our Deacon at church and they've sent my to speak with another man, a Mont Sr. who lives on the Island. I'll be contacting him soon, and hopefully shed some light on how Catholicism started here in our beautiful city. I'm extremely excited to speak with him. I was told he was a historian of sorts as well as a genealogist. Sadly I might only get to speak with him over the phone. But beggars can't be choosers. Till next time!
